On the 27th day of the war pitting the United States and Israel against Iran, the situation on the ground as well as the diplomatic front is undergoing a marked acceleration. Alarm sirens sounded in several regions of northern and central Israel after missiles were detected fired from Iran, illustrating an intensification of strike exchanges.
Meanwhile, an Israeli news site reported one person injured due to falling rocket debris in the center of the country, amid shootings also reported from Lebanon.
In Iran, human consequences are mounting: two children were killed and two other people injured in an attack targeting a residential neighborhood south of Shiraz. Powerful explosions were also heard in Tehran as well as in Mashhad, alongside the activation of air defense systems.
Politically, Tehran is tightening its terms ahead of a possible ceasefire, notably demanding the inclusion of Lebanon in any global agreement and the payment of financial compensation for the damages incurred. On his side, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out any idea of a short-term de-escalation, stating that deep military operations inside Iran will continue.
Finally, the American military presence in the region is strengthening, with the announced deployment of an elite unit from the 82nd Airborne Division, accompanied by specialized communications and coordination assets.
In this explosive context, the Lebanese front remains active as well, with exchanges of strikes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, notably in southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
