Tunisia–China Education Project Focused on Languages and Digital Skills

The Minister of Education, Noureddine Nouri, received on Thursday the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Tunisia, Wan Li, to discuss ways to strengthen Tunisian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education, notably in language learning, innovation, and digital transformation.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, also addressed the use of artificial intelligence technologies to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Towards an expansion of Chinese language education in Tunisia

The discussions notably focused on developing language skills through expanding the teaching of the Chinese language in Tunisian high schools and improving the programs dedicated to it.

The two sides also discussed strengthening the place of the Arabic language and developing its teaching methods in educational establishments of the People’s Republic of China.

Artificial intelligence at the service of education

The minister and the Chinese ambassador examined the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the fields of innovation and digital transformation.

The exchanges notably focused on the use of artificial intelligence technologies as tools to improve the quality of teaching and learning, as well as on the launch of joint initiatives allowing the latest technologies to be integrated into the education sector.

A particular focus was given to the use of these solutions for the benefit of students with special needs.

Training programs and an exchange of expertise

Both parties also studied the possibilities for exchanging experiences and transferring best practices in the educational field.

The aim is notably to benefit from successful experiences to develop the educational environment and to establish joint training programs aimed at strengthening the skills and capacities of the various actors in the sector.

A project to be finalized through diplomatic channels

Tunisia and China agreed to continue the various preparatory steps of this project through diplomatic channels, with a view to arriving at its final formulation.

The meeting also allowed for an update on the results of the visit by the Minister of Education to Beijing, People’s Republic of China, from August 17 to 22, 2026.

Noureddine Nouri had participated on this occasion in the proceedings of the 2026 International Conference on Intelligent Education.
