The Gorjani Sub-Directorate’s drug enforcement agents have managed to dismantle a suspected criminal network specialized in drug trafficking from a European country to Tunisia.
According to the preliminary elements of the investigation, the network also handled the distribution of the drugs in the Ibn Khaldoun and Ettadhamen neighborhoods, as well as in several popular districts of Greater Tunis.
Nine people arrested
The investigative and field operations led to the arrest of nine people, including a boxer and an individual described as a dangerous criminal element, who are the subject of more than 17 wanted notices.
The security units carried out several searches as part of the operation.
500 grams of cocaine and quantities of cannabis seized
The searches led to the seizure of 500 grams of cocaine, several blocks of cannabis, as well as sums of money and luxury cars.
The investigations continue in order to determine all the ramifications of the network and any other people involved.
Remand in custody warrants for the nine suspects
Presented yesterday before the investigating judge at the Tunis Court of First Instance, the nine suspects have been the subject of remand in custody warrants, as part of the judicial investigation.
