This Friday, the Paris Court of Appeal recognized the former French television presenter and real estate agent Stéphane Plaza, who was sentenced on appeal to 18 months of imprisonment with a suspended sentence, guilty of violence toward two former girlfriends, whereas he had been acquitted in one of the two cases at first instance. At the time, Stéphane Plaza had been sentenced to one year in prison with a suspended sentence.
“The court has judged you like any other litigant,” assured the ex-M6 star to the president of the appellate jurisdiction as she delivered her decision, noting that the statements of the two complainants were “precise, concordant, corroborated by the investigations.”
“There is no element in the file that would lead one to think that these two women were prone to fabrication,” added the court, which stressed that it had “not found in the file even the slightest indication that they could have conspired or plotted revenge.”
Lies and contradictions
“At the same time, your statements had sometimes evolved, sometimes lied, and sometimes contradicted the elements of the investigation,” the magistrates further argued.
The image and brand of the host, propelled in 2006 to the head of the show “Looking for an Apartment or a House” or later “House Hunters” (2015), have been permanently tarnished since his first conviction.
