9th Global Information Technology Report ranks Tunisia 1st in Africa
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- Tunisia continues to shine globally in the ICT sector. According to the 9th Global Information Technology Report 2009-2010 (GITR), Tunisia ranks first in Africa and 39th in the world.
The report, jointly worked out by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the European Institute of Business Management, assesses countries’ ability to command communication technologies according to three main criteria: the adequate political and economic environment for the development of new technologies, the rate of use of new ICT and the level of technological development.

The results of the Global Information Technology Report were published on Thursday in New York. The report remains one of the most reliable assessment documents at the international level regarding the impact of ICT on the development process and competitiveness of nations.
Mrs. Lamia Chaffai Sghaier, Secretary of State in charge of Computers, Internet and Free software, took part in the meeting held March from 22 to 23 in New York by the WEF.
On the sidelines of the event, the Secretary of State conferred with officials of international organizations and the private sector; the talk focused on prospects of co-operation and investment in Tunisia.
She also discussed with WEF officials the possibility of organizing in Tunisia a workshop to present the 9th Global Information Technology Report 2009-2010.
