Mrs. Leila Ben Ali awarded Golden Shield of Islamic Committee of the International Crescent
First Lady Leila Ben Ali, Chairwoman of the Arab Women Organisation (AWO) and Chairwoman of the “Basma” Association for the Promotion of Employment for the Disabled received the Golden Shield of the Islamic Committee of International Crescent (ICIC), represented by its President, Dr. Ali Mahmoud Bouhedma, in consideration for her vanguard initiatives in the social area and for the laudable services she offers to special needs categories to improve their living conditions, encourage their employment and enhance their integration in society.

In an address at the opening ceremony of the International Conference on the Promotion of the Employment of Categories with Special Needs, Mr. Bouhedma expressed deep consideration and high esteem for the progress made in Tunisia and the security and stability enjoyed by the Tunisian society, under the enlightened leadership of President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali.
He commended, in this regard, the special attention granted by the President of the Republic to social protection, translated, he said, in particular, through the major gains made by the country and the avant-garde activities carried out by the “BASMA” Association.
He also emphasised the conviction of ICIC of the major role played by such serious and dynamic organisations and associations in spreading prosperity and development, expressing its wish that all organisations of the civil society benefit from the expertise and pioneering experience of the “BASMA” Association in their area of intervention.
