Nanotechnology and microelectronics conference paves way for setting up of spin-off companies
TUNISIAONLINENEWS-The first Humboldt Kolleg ” Advancements in Nanotechnology and Microelectronics” supported by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and held in Gammarth (Tunisia), on November 13 and 14, 2009, had a great success thanks to the high scientific content and the quality of the papers given by leading experts in the field, such as Professors E.Sackman, L.Shultz, M. Schöning, and K.Karrai.
Scholars from Tunisia, Germany, France, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Jordan took an active part in the two- day event which was jointly organised by the Humboldt Kolleg 09 and the Tunisian National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, INSAT.

Representatives from two spin-off companies, (“Attocube AG”, Germany and “Horiba Scientific”, France), also gave interesting talks as keynote speakers on research and development strategies.
Several Tunisian research laboratories and units took part in the event which benefited from an intensive international media coverage on the part of scientific journals.
The conference which was sponsored by companies in the field of Nanotechnology from the USA, France, Germany and Ukraine discussed ways of launching start-ups and spin -off companies in the field of Nanotechnology and Nano-biotechnology in Tunisia. Some of the projects discussed during the event, will soon be implemented.
