TUNISIAONLINENEWS- A Tunisian medical team led by Pr. Hichem Boulila, an orthopedic surgeon, succeeded in treating a 64-year-old patient suffering from a femur cancer without resorting to amputation.

Following the diagnosis and biopsy which confirmed a cancer at an advanced stage, the medical team worked at ways to explore alternatives to amputation through the creation of conservative surgery based on prosthesis implant, braving the risk of possible complications of the patient’s health.

Ten hours later, the patient underwent successful surgery and is now equipped with a new prosthesis. The implant which cost 26,500 dinars was paid for by the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM).
