Tunisian literature showcased at “Beirut World Book Capital 2009”

TUNISIAONLINENEWS- As part of the celebrations of Beirut World Book Capital 2009 which runs from April 23, 2009 until April 23, 2010, an information day on Tunisian literature, organized by the Ministry of culture in collaboration with the Tunisian Embassy in Lebanon, was held on November 2, 2009 at UNESCO’s office in Lebanon under the motto “Spotlight on the Tunisian literary scene”.

The information day included a conference by the Tunisian poet Mr. Mahamad Alghazi on the “Modernity of Chebbi”, as well as a lecture on the Tunisian novel by Dr. Bouchicha Boujemaa

German and Mexican poets, French novelists, Italian and Egyptian publishers, Spanish designers, Swiss illustrators, Dutch book professionals, Algerian, Moroccan, Syrian, Tunisian and UAE booksellers are all taking part in the event.

Each year, UNESCO and major international associations of professionals of the book sector select a World Book Capital City for a period of one year.

Beirut is the ninth city designated as World Book Capital, following Madrid (2001), Alexandria (2002), New Delhi (2003), Antwerp (2004), Montreal (2005), Turin (2006), Bogota (2007) and Amsterdam (2008).
