Year 22 of Change: RCD guests commend success of Tunisian development model
Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD) Secretary-General Mohamed Ghariani met, on Monday, on the sidelines of works of the Rally’s 21st International Symposium, with several participants in the Symposium. These talks turned on the development of the excellent relations binding the sisterly and friendly countries and ways to further boost them and diversify their fields.
Talks also turned on the characteristics of the Tunisian development model initiated by President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, as well as the influence enjoyed by Tunisia under his enlightened leadership.
Tunisia’s guests commended the climate in which the last presidential and legislative elections were held, praising the results of these elections which showed Tunisian people’s loyalty to their president and the adherence of all social classes to the project of the Change which helped Tunisia overcome difficulties and achieve a rich balance of gains and successes.
Mr. Bernard Landry, former Canadian Prime Minister, hailed the Tunisian economy’s resistance to the global economic crisis, thanks to the strong platform it enjoys.
He said that the quality change experienced by Tunisia reflects the fair and pertinent policy of its leadership.
Representatives of Moroccan parties pointed, in turn, to the pertinent nature of the guidelines of Tunisia, stressing its capacity to face up to world changes and the important gains made for the Tunisian people. They also commended efforts exerted by the RCD to boost the process of co- operation and complementarity between Arab Maghreb States.
For his part, Mr. Abdelkader Baghdadi, General Co- ordinator of the Libyan People’s Committee praised President Ben Ali’s enlightened policy which has enhanced the climate of development and stability in Tunisia. He stressed the need to step up efforts to strengthen complementarity between the two countries in all areas, in line with the guidelines of the two countries’ leaders, President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali and his Brother, Leader of the Great September 1st Revolution Mouammar Kadhafi.
Messrs. Abou Jarra Soltani, Chairman of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), Mohamed Nadhir Boulgroun, National Liberation Front (FNL) Executive Committee member and Abdessalem Bouchouareb, representative of the National Democratic Rally (RND)- Algeria, stressed the need to intensify efforts at the bilateral and multilateral levels to strengthen the foundations of the Maghreb construction process, praising Tunisia’s choice to rely on its youth to boost the development work in the country.
They expressed will to consolidate relations with the RCD and step up the exchange of experiences and expertise, particularly in the areas of political training and promotion of role of women and youth in public life.
For his part, Mr. Mushahid Hussein, Secretary-General of the Islamic Alliance of Pakistan, expressed wishes for success to Tunisia, stressing his country’s will to endeavour, along with Tunisia and other Islamic countries, to convey a shining image of Islam and disseminate the values of moderation and modernity.
Mr. Tyrki Arolinna, President of the World Parliament of Children expressed, in turn, consideration to President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, wishing full success to Tunisia. He said that Tunisia remains a reference in matters of international humanitarian initiatives and a country known for its success in boosting efforts designed to bring peoples together, protect all social classes and defend common universal values to serve humanity.
Mr. Mr. Jean-Noel Guérini, Bouches-du-Rhône senator and general council chairman, stressed the long-standing relations of friendship binding France and Tunisia and the close relations of co-operation between the two countries and the need to increase direct contact and enhance co-ordination and consultation between the RCD and France’s different components of political society, first and foremost the French Socialist Party.
