Increasing number of Tunisians shop online

Tunis, September 1, 2008- A recently released survey conducted between May and July 2008 by the Arab Advisors Group www.arabadvisors.com , shows that internet users in Tunisia spent an estimated 132,7 million dollars during the past 12 months in e-commerce transactions.
 
The survey reveals that some 416,000 people representing 36, 4% of internet users in Tunisia, use e-commerce to shop online or through their mobile phones.
 
Respondents were randomly targeted by an e-mail request in their inbox . The Group says that its team led quality control checks from 1093 respondents, yielding a confidence level of 99%, with a margin of error of less than 4%.
The survey also shows that that 84% of internet users in Tunisia have internet access at home, 75,8% use internet at work, while 24% use public internet parlors.
 
The majority of e-commerce users make electronic payments through credit cards; 64,8% of e-commerce users use credit cards . Following credit cards, 27,4% of e-commerce users use prepaid internet shopping cards for their payments, wrote  Hussam Barhoush, the Group’s senior research analyst, in the survey report.
